Hello Mighty Midlothian Moms!
"Bridging Our Past, Envisioning Our Future." That was the theme for the 2010-2011 program year and numerous activities commemorating the 20th Anniversary for our Magnificent Midlothian Chapter. As the Chapter begins the next 20 years, each of us must consider the vision we have and legacy we will leave for those who will follow in our footsteps. What is your vision for the next 20 years?
Very few of us will be members of the Chapter in 2030. So let's start with our vision for this year. What do you want Jack and Jill to provide for you and your children during the 2011-2012 program year? Some of the goals are obvious: We all want our children to be knowledgeable, confident, compassionate, gracious, magnanimous, disciplined, generous, and more. The list of qualities and virtues we want to instill in them is infinite. I firmly believe participation in Jack and Jill can be a valuable tool in our quest to enable our children to be all that they want to be.
As a mom, I want my membership in Jack and Jill to make a positive difference in the life of others, particularly women and children in both our chapter and the community at large. Therefore, my vision for the upcoming year is to focus on community service and involvement in legislative matters that will not only benefit our children, but also children who need a voice. I hope you will join me in committing to an agenda and age group activities that focus on both developing our youths and serving those less fortunate than us.
I cannot close this message without thanking the Officers and Executive Board members from the 2010-2011 program year. Their leadership for the past year, especially that of my friend and immediate past president, Linda Thomas, has set the standard for years to come.
Yours in Jack and Jill,
Janet Palmer
